UCC's mission is developing competent physicians with outstanding academic preparation within a humanistic and holistic framework, carrying a highly developed commitment to social duties and service to Puerto Rico and Hispanic communities across the US mainland. Full bilingualism in Spanish and English is required, not preferred, because of the populations the school trains its graduates to serve. A record of service in Hispanic or Spanish-speaking communities is the clearest form of mission alignment here.
Watch out: No Spanish means ineligible. MCAT scores must be from within two years of application and only scores of 494 or above are considered. At least two letters from science professors or a pre-medical committee letter are required, and the complete file including AMCAS must reach the admissions office by January 15.
