Colorado runs a screening subcommittee holistic review over coursework, academic and extracurricular experience, unique talents, background and attributes — the standard flagship blend of research capacity and service. What differentiates it is the Rural Program track: up to 20 students per class, selected mostly before matriculation, requiring an extra secondary essay describing personal rural experience, ties to Colorado, and a vision of practising primary care rurally in the state.
